Reebop Project

Genetic variety was how the genes spread without direct breading. This is how people ended up with so many bugs in their family even though they only bread with 3 people. If I bread with someone and then they bread with someone, they will probably have some of my traits. I ended up with genes from 5 different people besides me. This is how the parent bugs phenotypes are so different from the F3 bugs phenotypes. I could end up looking like bugs from all over the place. This is also true about the real world. Genetic variety is how genes spread so fast and so far.

science week

This week in science we learned more about genes. We learned about larger Punnett squares that can predictmultiple phenotypes.. We did a project where we were bugs and we had to draw the offspring. We were each given a set of geneotypes and we had to figure out what the offspring looked like. I hads wings and long legs but no pokadots. We also decided to add a trait. The trait was whether there was a horn or not. The horn was 1 half of a cm by 1in

Genes

This week in science we learned about dominant and reccesive genes. The dominant gene is always the visable one. This is also known as the phenotype. We also learned about the terms heterozygous and homozygous. Heterozygous is when the genes are different. One is the reccesive allele and one is the dominant allele (Rr) Homozygous is when the genes are the same (RR,rr) We did a lab on whether people could taste a chemical on a piece of paper or not. I missed the lab so i am not exactly sure what the results mean. I would guess it has to do with the strength of the tastebuds you inharrit from your parents. The hw where we traced a gene was interesting because it showed the possible genes i could have recived.
